Toddler Tips for Disney

Unless this is your very first time coming to my site (welcome!!) and you know nothing about our family, then you are probably very familiar with the fact that we love Disney and have been taking Mav since he was little! You all have been asking and asking for our tips and while there is so much to say on this, I wanted to share a few of our best tips that I think might be helpful if you’re planning a trip!

So, here are my tips if you are specifically planning for a trip with a toddler!

1. Go with zero expectations

If you try to plan out every ride and every attraction you want to visit or see, you end up getting frustrated. Then that frustration causes a shorter fuse which is why you tend to see a lot of tears at Disney. This is not a trip where you get to complete your Disney bucket list. It's supposed to be the happiest place in the world and it is for us when we just show up and go with the flow! If we walk past a ride and it has a short(ish) wait time, we hop on. If it's an hour...bye! Moving on. Honestly, we have been able to ride so much more this way. With zero expectations you feel like you accomplish SO much! And if you want to ride all of the adult rides...my best tip....plan a trip alone! Lol!

P.S. you can literally walk on rides from 8:00-9:30 because of fireworks. The fireworks can be seen from anywhere in the park! Look up at the sky and take advantage of the rides with the littles!

2. Give yourself a break

This is key! We will typically go to the parks early in the morning, come back for a break/nap/pool/lunch and then head back in the evening. Plus the pools and splash pads at Disney resorts are so much fun! This just helps with moods for everyone and breaks up what could be a very long day of being on our feet constantly in the sun.

3. Bring a good cup so you can keep drinks cool

Hydration is key and I feel like we waste so much, especially in the summer because things melt. Take a Yeti or a cup that you can dump those park drinks into to keep them cool!

4. Pack snacks

Bring food into the park so you don't spend a fortune on kids snacks! This also keeps them entertained in lines too! Because try as you might to only go on rides with short lines, sometimes they just really want to go on the ride with an hour long wait...and you just have to wait. So you’re going to want those snacks!! I also pack suckers for Mav. This is a fun treat in line and keeps him occupied for a short time.

5. Take advantage of the shows

This is a great break and allows everyone to cool off! The Disney junior dance party is one of Mav's favorites at Hollywood Studios and I feel like it's a hidden gem!

6. Character dining is a must

Especially now that there are no character meet and greets, the dining is the best way to meet the characters! But even before, avoid the lines, sit in the AC, and enjoy seeing the characters! This is always Mavs’ favorite thing!

These tips might sound simple, but they really do all add up to make a big difference! What tips do you have?! I would love to hear on my Instagram because we are always eager to learn more Disney tips lol!!
